The Elani cycle, or Elani cycle 21, is a contraceptive that contains two female hormones, drospirenone and ethinylestradiol, which act by preventing ovulation and causing changes in the cervical mucus, making it more difficult for sperm to reach the uterus, preventing pregnancy.

By having low doses of hormones, this contraceptive reduces fluid retention that can cause swelling or weight gain, and therefore, the Elani cycle does not gain weight. In addition, Elani Cycle helps improve acne-prone skin, reduces blackheads and controls excess hair oil.

Elani Cycle 21 should always be used with indication and guidance from the gynecologist and can be found in pharmacies or drugstores in boxes with 21 pills.However, this contraceptive can also be found in boxes of 28 pills, under the trade name Elani cycle 28.

What is it for

The Elani cycle is indicated as a contraceptive, to prevent pregnancy, as it prevents ovulation, alters the cervical mucus preventing sperm from reaching the uterus, in addition to making it more difficult for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus.

This contraceptive also helps to control menstrual flow and intensity, reducing the risk of anemia caused by heavy menstrual bleeding and decreasing the discomfort of menstrual cramps.

How to take it

Elani Cycle 21 tablets should be taken with water, always at the same time. You should take 1 tablet of Elani cycle per day, following the direction of the arrows, until the end of the pack that has 21 units. Then you should take a break of seven days, and wait for the 8th day, when you should start a new pack of this contraceptive.

How to start taking it: If you are taking Elani Cycle 21 for the first time, you should take the first tablet on the first day of your period. So, if your period comes on Tuesday, you should take the first tablet on a Tuesday indicated on the card, always respecting the direction of the arrows. The contraceptive effect of Elani Cycle 21 starts from the first day of treatment, if it is used correctly from the first day of menstruation.

What to do if you forget 1 tablet: if you forget to take the forgotten tablet within 12 hours of the ideal time. If you forget for more than 12 hours, the effect is impaired, especially at the end or beginning of the pack.

  • Forget in week 1: take the tablet as soon as you remember and use an additional contraceptive method for the next 7 days;
  • Forgetting in the 2nd week: take the pill as soon as you remember;
  • Forgetting in the 3rd week: take the pill as soon as you remember and do not take a break, starting a new pack as soon as it runs out.

If you forget 2 or more pills in any given week, the chances of pregnancy are higher, so you should take a pregnancy test before starting a new pack.

During the breaks between the packs, after the 3rd or 4th day there should be bleeding similar to menstruation, but if it does not occur and you have had unprotected sex, you may be pregnant, especially if you have forgotten to take a pill during the month.
