Onion syrup with honey is an excellent homemade option to relieve coughs as it has expectorant properties that help decongest the airways, eliminating persistent cough and phlegm more quickly.
Onion contains quercetin, which can help fight the flu, cold, tonsillitis, cough, asthma and allergies naturally, while honey is considered an antiseptic, antioxidant and expectorant, helping to strengthen the immune system, fighting viruses and bacteria.
This onion syrup can be prepared at home, being useful against flu and cold in adults and children, however, it is not recommended for babies and children under 1 year, because of the contraindication of honey at this age due to the risk of botulism.
